Mission Southside Summer Internship

Internship Information

Job Brief
Coming alongside Mission Southside to put God’s love into action by extending help through hope in Christ. Interns will participate in relationally equipping community leaders by loving and serving together, learning from each other, and creating a holistic, Christ-centered community. This will include a wide range of HELP and HOPE experiences that will allow the intern to grow in their leadership ability, with primary focus on the summer programs for children, teens, and Neighborhood Teams.

Hours at the Mission
20 hrs. per week
Tuesday – Thursday – 9:30am-2:30pm (plus Tues 5:30-8:30pm)
Friday – 11am-2pm

General outline
9:00am-2:30pm (T-Th) is ministry focus and additional Help & Hope experiences (plan on some additional morning, evening & weekend serving opportunities).

11am-2pm Friday is assisting and participating in Fun Friday at Eagle’s Pointe Apartments.

Responsibilities at the Mission:
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leaders in Training (Middle and High School) – encourage, equip, and mentor a group of young teens growing in faith, character and life skills.
  • Eagle Lake Day Camp – help facilitate and assist with the Eagle Lake Day Camp that will be hosted at the Ministry Center for elementary-age kids.
  • Sports Night – Assist with planning, coordinating, and hosting weekly sports nights to connect with kids, teens, and families.
  • Neighborhood Teams – Serve and assist Mission Southside’s Neighborhoods and Neighborhood Teams as they provide help and hope to neighbors in the community.
  • Grow as an obedient follower of Jesus as you learn, lead, and train others in living on mission.

Other Help & Hope Opportunities:

  • Community Connections –learning from key volunteers and ministry partners
  • Providing assistance (Furniture Delivery, Food Co-op, Warehouse, Prayer)
  • Special Projects
  • Service & Discovery mentoring – come alongside young teens interested in serving the community and discovering more about God.

  • Stipend for 10 full weeks: $2,250 (via Mission Southside payroll or scholarship)
  • Work area provided with Wi-Fi. (Please bring your own device)

June 17-21 – 8:30-5:00 Monday-Friday

MSS Charity Golf Tournament

Interns assist and serve alongside volunteer teams

Living Waters Canoe Overnight Trip
July 25-26
Leave Thursday, July 25 and return Friday, July 26, at 9:00pm
