Spiritual Needs

At the heart of Mission Southside is a passion to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to people who are under-resourced. These people may not feel comfortable attending a church or may have never heard about the love of Christ. Therefore, Mission Southside is working to bring the church to the people through making connections in low-income communities to start Bible studies and children’s programs on-site. Prayer is a central component of all that Mission Southside does, because it is only through the power of God that the lost will be reached for His kingdom.

Here are the ways you can partner with Mission Southside to help those in need:

Bible study communities aim to take Jesus to the people who are under-resourced and/or may not feel comfortable coming into a church building for worship. God is full of compassion for those we consider “poor” in our society. He longs to reach out to these people and give them hope even though they are facing many struggles. These people are precious to Jesus, and they may never know of His love unless someone is willing to share the Good News with them. Therefore, one of the main goals of Mission Southside is to start Bible studies in low-income apartment complexes to bring the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ to those in need. Both English and Spanish Bible studies will be offered.

J-Train is a Backyard Bible program with songs, games, activities, and Bible stories for children ages 5-11. Many children and youth from unchurched homes will not be able to go to church on a Sunday morning, so J-Train is a way to bring Jesus to them.

Neighbor’s Heart Mentors is a ministry designed to pair a person in need with a Christian mentor who can help coach them through the spiritual, physical, and social aspects of their lives. Neighbor’s Heart Mentors provide more one-on-one interaction for those people who desire to have a deeper level of assistance. The Neighbor’s Heart Mentoring program is in the development stage, and more information will be available as the details of the program are determined.

The desire of Mission Southside is to bathe everything we do in prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God, but it is deeper than that. Prayer calls upon God to do what we cannot do. God wants to do exceedingly abundantly more than we could ever expect or imagine. Prayer says to God that our trust is in Him. If we pray according to His will then He promises to hear our prayer. The Bible makes it clear that using His people and His resources to meet the needs of those less fortunate are an important part of God’s will.
